The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) operates strategically from both the north and south parts of North-East and North Central Nigeria. Responsibilities

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Execute the support function portfolio according to the plan of action.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents, both hard and soft copies.
  • Promote and share ideas for improving the support function.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Properly manage cash and ensure payment processes follow the Financial Handbook, NRC policies, and donor requirements.
  • Maintain daily cash counts.
  • Post transactions daily.
  • Process payments promptly.
  • Handle bank transactions per NRC policies and procedures.
  • Record income and costs in bank cash boxes (USD and NGN) daily.
  • Act as the focal point between the Area Office and Field Office for fund transfer requests and other bank payments.
  • Ensure timely clearance of the field office cash box.
  • Release payments to contractors and other entities as per contracts and NRC policies.
  • Prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement before processing payments.
  • Maintain control over field offices, and bank details, and assist with NRC tools.
  • Safeguard office cash.

Qualifications

Professional Qualification and Competencies:

  • Experience in a similar finance role.
  • Strong finance technical knowledge.
  • Minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in insecure environments.

Generic Professional Competencies:

  • Experience in a support function within a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Experience working in complex and volatile settings.
  • Proven track record in similar responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of English.

Context/Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Kanuri or Shuwa Arab is an advantage.
