About Grant
The conflict in North-East Nigeria (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe) and North-West Nigeria has caused severe humanitarian problems for over ten years.
The Humanitarian Needs Overview 2024 estimates that 7.9 million people need humanitarian aid and protection.
More than 2 million people are displaced from their homes due to ongoing violence. Food shortages and malnutrition are worsened by inflation, poverty, and limited access because of insecurity.
Gender-based violence is a major issue for displaced women and girls. Many basic services like hospitals and water supplies are damaged, affecting essential services.
Epidemics such as cholera, caused by flooding and overcrowding, add more pressure on these vulnerable communities.
To help with the humanitarian response, INTERSOS is running projects to address key needs in protection, health and nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), food security, and Camp Coordination and Camp Management in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, and Zamfara states.
These projects are funded by organizations like BHA, ECHO, WFP, UNHCR, and UNDP.
